A Winter of Discontent for Henry Milch is now available!

In the fourth book of the Wyandot County Mysteries, Henry Milch has his hands full. Literally. His mother has mysteriously run off, leaving his baby sister in his care. He, with the help of his grandmother and her friends, juggles diapers, feedings, and constructive playtime with his new job as an investigator Hamlet Gilbody. His first assignment, looking into a local woman who is suing a winery suddenly becomes a lot more complicated when the woman’s corpse is dumped in front of the tasting room.

  1. Marshall Thornton has delivered another compelling mystery that perfectly blends small-town atmosphere with genuine suspense in A Winter of Discontent for Henry Milch. This installment grabbed me from the very first page and never let go!

The book truly excels at drawing the reader into the heart of Wyandot County. Henry Milch’s journey, especially as he juggles new personal responsibilities with Hamlet Gilbody’s investigative work, makes for a complex and highly relatable protagonist. The way Thornton weaves together domestic life, unexpected family drama, and the central corpse-in-the-tasting-room mystery kept me guessing until the final pages. The sense of adventure and the detailed, puzzling nature of the crime made this a deeply satisfying read.

The author’s talent for creating vivid, slightly off-kilter characters shines through, making every interaction a pleasure. This series continues to grow and deepen with each book, making the emotional stakes for the community—and for Henry—feel incredibly high.

My only complaint is that the ending left me desperate for more! The world Thornton has created is so rich, and Henry’s story feels far from over.

    Five out of Five Stars.

To the Author: Thank you for such a great read! I immediately need to know: Will there be a fifth book in the Wyandot County Mysteries? We fans are eagerly waiting for the next chapter in Henry Milch’s adventure!

  2. Thank you! I’m so glad you liked the book. There will be a fifth book. I have a good idea what it’s about. The title I’m thinking of is The Slightly Terrifying Times of Henry Milch.
